Landlord Didn't Maintain Fire Alarm

LVT Number: #24548

The Fire Department issued a violation notice to landlord for failing to maintain the fire alarm at a one-family dwelling. On two occasions, the fire alarm went off unnecessarily. Landlord claimed that he called the fire alarm company on each occasion. The alarm company said that the alarm went off due to construction work at the building. Landlord sent a certificate of correction of the condition to the Fire Department but received no response. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $950. Landlord appealed and won, in part.
