‘Thinking Venturi' Window Ventilator May Qualify

LVT Number: 8131

Landlord asked the DHCR if a ``Thinking Venturi'' window ventilator would qualify as an MCI. The vent allows tenants to keep windows locked while venting out moist air, increasing comfort and security at the same time. In an opinion letter, the DHCR stated that the device should qualify as an MCI if it was installed in conjunction with a building-wide window installation or as a retrofit to previously installed windows. But, the ventilator wouldn't qualify if it interfered with the ability to securely lock the windows.
