Tenants Get More Time to Appeal Nassau Rent Guidelines Challenge

LVT Number: #19714

Tenants organization sued Nassau County Rent Guidelines Board in 2003, claiming that the board violated the state's open meeting law when it reviewed and passed rent guidelines for that year. The court ruled against tenants, and they filed a notice of appeal. Later, tenants asked the court for more time to complete their appeal papers. They also asked the court to order a delay of a separate case pending in a lower Nassau County court that involved the same issues. The court ruled for tenants in part, giving them more time to prepare their appeal.
