Landlord Fined for Leaving Electronic Equipment Out for Collection

DOS issued a violation notice for the improper disposal of electronic waste after observing a DVD player and VCR player improperly placed out on the sidewalk in front of the building. Landlord denied placing the equipment on the sidewalk in front of the building. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $100. Landlord appealed and lost. Landlord claimed that someone from the building next door placed the equipment out for collection.

Landlord denied placing the equipment on the sidewalk in front of the building. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $100. Landlord appealed and lost. Landlord claimed that someone from the building next door placed the equipment out for collection. The ALJ didn’t credit landlord’s testimony and photographs submitted by landlord didn’t prove landlord’s claim that the items were placed at the curb by a neighbor.
