Adequate Doorman Service Provided
LVT Number: 12992
Tenants complained of a reduction in building-wide services based on inadequate doorman service. The DRA ruled for tenants and reduced their rents. Landlord appealed, claiming that the building always had 12-hour doorman service from noon to midnight and that service hadn't been reduced. The DHCR ruled for landlord. The DHCR's inspector had visited the building three times. Each time a doorman was found on duty but was out of uniform. Being out of uniform wasn't a reason to reduce rents. And while some tenants claimed that doorman service had at one time started at 10:00 a.m., they didn't submit sufficient proof.
