Tenant Replaced Defective Appliances

Landlord sued to evict tenant for making apartment alterations in violation of his lease. Tenant claimed that he made needed repairs and replaced defective appliances. The court ruled against landlord. Landlord appealed and lost. Tenant installed a new stove and refrigerator in place of old and defective appliances and replaced old kitchen countertops and cabinets after repairs were inadequate. The work was done with the help of prior landlord's building staff, and prior landlord didn't complain about tenant's kitchen renovations while it still owned the building.
