Tenant Let Grandson into Apartment in Violation of Agreement

LVT Number: #25648

Landlord NYCHA terminated tenancy because tenant violated an agreement to exclude her grandson from her apartment. Tenant filed an Article 78 appeal of NYCHA's decision. The court ruled against tenant. Tenant had signed three agreements with NYCHA since 2006 to keep her grandson out of the apartment. Among other things, NYCHA inspectors found the grandson in the apartment one day, and he admitted he had been there at least four hours. Under the circumstances, the penalty NYCHA imposed against tenant wasn't unfair.
