Rent Case Delayed Pending Tenant's Discrimination Claim

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Tenant asked the court to delay the case. She had started a discrimination case against NYCHA for terminating her Section 8 benefits. Tenant claimed that her benefits were terminated despite NYCHA's knowledge of her emotional, mental, and psychological disabilities. NYCHA said tenant's benefits were terminated because she hadn't supplied adequate recertification documentation for 1999.
