Month-to-Month Tenant Must Pay Back Rent Owed

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. The court ruled for landlord and awarded him $28,000 and a possessory judgment. Tenant appealed, claiming that there was no valid agreement making him responsible for back rent. The court ruled against tenant. Landlord and tenant had a written agreement that tenant would pay a certain rent amount for four months. This was a lease that created a month-to-month tenancy, and tenant was responsible for back rent under that agreement.
