Landlord Missing Documents on Trial Date

LVT Number: 15235

Landlord sued to evict tenant. On the trial date, landlord wasn't ready to go forward because it didn't have any of the certified documents needed to show that it had filed a multiple dwelling registration. Landlord claimed that it had trouble getting through by telephone to the city office that had those documents. The court ruled against landlord. Landlord's explanation for why it didn't have the documents was vague. And landlord's copy of the property registration form showed that it had expired on May 1. So landlord's petition would have been dismissed, anyway.
