Faulty Electrical Wiring

LVT Number: 6909

Landlord sued to evict tenants for nonpayment of rent. Tenants showed that a number of conditions existed in the apartment, including faulty electrical wiring. The DHCR had reduced tenants' monthly rent based on these conditions and directed landlord to refund money to tenants. So far, landlord hadn't done this. The court ruled that landlord had breached tenants' warranty of habitability and reduced tenants' rent by $200 per month for the months rent wasn't paid.
