DHCR OKs Monthly $7.46 Washing Machine Surcharge

Tenant complained of a rent overcharge. The DRA ruled for tenant and ordered landlord to refund $750. Landlord appealed, pointing out that the DRA didn't allow for a washing machine surcharge authorized by tenant's lease. The DHCR ruled for landlord. Landlord was entitled to collect a monthly surcharge of $7.46 for tenant's washing machine. There was no waiver by landlord of the surcharge. The total overcharge refund was reduced to $610.
