Tenant's Granddaughter Gets Rent-Stabilized Apartment

Landlord sued to evict apartment occupants after rent-stabilized tenant died. One of the occupants claimed that she was tenant's granddaughter and that she had succession rights. The trial court ruled for the granddaughter. She showed that she lived with tenant in the apartment for at least two years by credibly testifying that she moved into the apartment with tenant in August 2015 and continuously resided there since then. The granddaughter also presented a driver's license and tax returns for 2017 listing the apartment as her address.
