Tenant Installed Refrigerator

LVT Number: 16211

Tenant asked the DRA to order a rent reduction because she replaced the refrigerator, which was supplied by landlord, in the apartment with one she bought and installed herself. She claimed that the rent should be reduced by $9.50 per month. The DRA ruled against tenant. Tenant appealed and lost. Tenant had a lease rider that stated that, since tenant was installing her own refrigerator voluntarily and at her own request, landlord could continue to collect the legal rent without any abatement. So tenant wasn't entitled to any rent reduction.
