Tenant Gets $49,470 in Attorney's Fees

Rent-stabilized tenant sought additional attorney's fees after successfully defending against landlord's appeals of a lower court's order. The court ruled for tenant and awarded a judgment for $49,470. Landlord had sued tenant for nonpayment of rent. The court ruled against landlord and awarded tenant $24,250 for breach of warranty of habitability and contempt. The court also found that landlord committed fraud by registering a fictitious tenant to illegally and falsely inflate tenant's rent. Landlord lost several appeals.
