Rent-Stabilized Tenants Overcharged Roommate

LVT Number: #28189

Rent-stabilized tenants sued to evict roommate. Tenants and roommate signed a settlement agreement in court. The court later denied the roommate's request to vacate the settlement agreement. The roommate appealed and won. The roommate showed that the settlement agreement was signed inadvisedly and that it would be unfair to hold him to it. The roommate showed that tenants commercialized the apartment and overcharged roommate by renting the second bedroom to him for $200 per week.
