Landlord's Officer Improperly Collected Rent

LVT Number: 13281

Corporate landlord's president sued a civil court judge in Supreme Court in an attempt to stop a contempt case against him ordered by the civil court. Landlord's president had been trying to collect rents from tenants after a receiver was appointed in mortgage foreclosure and bankruptcy actions. The Supreme Court ruled against landlord's officer. The civil court was properly considering contempt charges against landlord's officer for violating the other court order appointing the receiver to collect rents.
