Landlord Violated J-51 Law and Local Law 10

LVT Number: #23455

Tenants sued landlord, claiming unlawful discrimination by landlord's refusal to accept Section 8 vouchers from tenants. The court ruled for tenants, finding that landlord violated antidiscrimination provisions of the J-51 law and Local Law 10. Tenants later claimed that landlord continued to refuse their Section 8 vouchers. Landlord argued that, in certain cases it was entitled to do so because the units or household composition rendered tenants ineligible for Section 8. The court ruled for tenants.
