Landlord Must Include Housing Authority in Nonpayment Case

LVT Number: 10126

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Tenant's Section 8 benefits had been terminated, but there was some indication that they might be reinstated. Landlord sued only for that portion of the rent formerly paid by Section 8. But landlord sued only tenant. The court ruled that landlord must include the New York City Housing Authority in the case and gave landlord the opportunity to amend its petition to do so.
