Landlord Left Rubbish and Oil in Boiler Room

The Fire Department issued a violation notice to landlord for conditions in the boiler room. Landlord claimed that the inspector didn't sufficiently describe the conditions. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $3,000 because this was a second offense. Landlord appealed and lost. The violation notice stated that landlord violated Fire Department Rules 8, 15, and 26. The notice said that landlord failed to remove rubbish and a pail with oil in the oil burner room, failed to repair all holes in the boiler room ceiling with fire-retarding materials, and failed to provide a labeled remote control to stop the flow of oil to the burner.
