Landlord Left Rubbish and Oil in Boiler Room

The Fire Department issued a violation notice to landlord for conditions in the boiler room. Landlord claimed that the inspector didn't sufficiently describe the conditions. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $3,000 because this was a second offense. Landlord appealed and lost. The violation notice stated that landlord violated Fire Department Rules 8, 15, and 26.

The violation notice stated that landlord violated Fire Department Rules 8, 15, and 26. The notice said that landlord failed to remove rubbish and a pail with oil in the oil burner room, failed to repair all holes in the boiler room ceiling with fire-retarding materials, and failed to provide a labeled remote control to stop the flow of oil to the burner.
