Landlord Fined $2,500 for Not Removing Padlock on Gate

LVT Number: #32206

DOB issued two violation notices to landlord for failing to comply with a DOB order. The underlying violations were for having a padlocked gate on a fence that obstructed a passageway to the street, and for failing to file a certificate of correction of that violation. At a hearing, landlord claimed that tenant had placed a padlock on the fence. Landlord had removed it, and the tenant replaced it. Landlord also was taking additional steps to correct some facade and foundation conditions, which was taking some time. The ALJ upheld the violations and fined landlord $2,500.
