Landlord Can't Include Engineering Fees for Roof Installation

LVT Number: 14852

Landlord applied for MCI rent hikes. The DRA ruled for landlord but denied that portion of landlord's application seeking reimbursement for engineering fees for a roof installation. Landlord appealed and lost. Engineering or architectural fees can be included in MCI costs if they are directly related to the MCI installation. Preparatory inspections, as well as the cost of the drawing of plans and specifications, may qualify. In this case, the engineering work wasn't directly related to the roof installation and didn't qualify as part of the MCI cost.
