Landlord Can Amend Court Petition to Correct Name

LVT Number: #22411

Landlord sued to evict Section 8 tenant for failing to report additional income, a lease violation. Tenant asked the court to dismiss the case. She pointed out that the landlord named in the court petition wasn't the same as the landlord named in her lease. Landlord asked the court to correct the error on the petition, so that it stated landlord's correct name, which was the name stated on the lease. The court ruled for landlord. Changing landlord's name in the court papers to the correct name would be no surprise to tenant and cause her no harm.
