Landlord Bound by Prior Agreement

LVT Number: 13986

Landlord sued to evict tenant's daughter from two rent-stabilized apartments after tenant died. The daughter claimed that she was entitled to pass-on rights. Prior landlord had sued to evict tenant and had signed an agreement in court in 1994 acknowledging that the daughter had pass-on rights. New landlord claimed that it didn't know about the prior agreement and shouldn't be bound by it. The court ruled against landlord. Landlord was bound by the court-approved agreement signed by prior landlord.
