Former Employee Not Covered
LVT Number: 16483
Landlord's former building employee complained that landlord refused to offer him a rent-stabilized lease. Landlord claimed that employee never paid rent for the apartment and so he was exempt from rent stabilization. The DRA ruled for landlord and dismissed the complaint. Employee appealed and lost. Although employee was part time for a period and his union contract stated that he wasn't entitled to a rent-free apartment, he didn't pay any rent during the period of part-time employment.
