Daughter Can't Get Tenant's NYCHA Apartment

LVT Number: #24248

NYCHA tenant's daughter asked to remain in the apartment after tenant died. NYCHA refused and denied the daughter's grievance request. The daughter appealed and lost. The court found that there was substantial proof that the daughter didn't continuously live in the apartment for at least one year after NYCHA approved her becoming a permanent household member and before tenant's death. So the daughter had no succession rights to the apartment.
