Cotenant Moved Out

Tenant asked the DHCR whether remaining tenant was entitled to a renewal lease if cotenant moved out. In an opinion letter, the DHCR said yes. If two persons are named as tenants on a lease and one vacates, landlord must give remaining tenant a renewal lease, not a vacancy lease.
