Apartment Conditions Warranted Rent Abatement

LVT Number: #27348

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Landlord and tenant signed a settlement agreement in court by which tenant agreed to pay by a certain date and landlord agreed to make repairs. Tenant obtained several delays from the court after signing the settlement stipulation and then asked the court to vacate the agreement. The court ruled for tenant. Tenant had signed the agreement while unaware of her right to a rent abatement for some of the apartment conditions. Tenant also had agreed to make some of the repairs herself.
