Landlord Must Renew Section 8 Lease

LVT Number: 8992

Section 8 tenant complained to the DHCR that landlord didn't offer him a renewal lease. Landlord claimed it offered a renewal lease, but that tenant refused it because it included an MCI rent hike not subsidized by the Section 8 program. The DRA ruled for tenant, and landlord appealed. The DHCR upheld the DRA's ruling. Landlords must offer Section 8 tenants renewal leases containing the same terms and conditions as the expired lease.
