Fireproof Boiler Room Door Required

The Fire Department issued a notice of violation to landlord for a second offense of failing to provide a fireproof door to the building's boiler room. Landlord claimed he was unaware that the replacement door wasn't fireproof. He immediately corrected the condition. Still, the ALJ fined landlord $500. Landlord appealed, and the ECB dismissed landlord's appeal. Landlord was responsible for installing a proper fireproof door after the first violation. The penalty was also appropriate for a second offense
