Violation Notice Listed Incorrect Name for Corporate Landlord

LVT Number: 12501

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for not maintaining an elevator. Landlord, a corporation, claimed it never received the violation notice. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined it $200. Landlord appealed. Landlord showed that the notice sent to the New York Secretary of State listed ''CCS Enterprises Corp.'' as landlord. Landlord's name was ''LCS Enterprises, Inc.'' This typographical error caused the process server and the New York Secretary of State to misread the name of the corporation. The violation notice wasn't sent to LCS Enterprises, Inc. The fine was revoked.
