Unexpired Lease Exists for Loft Unit

LVT Number: 15212

Landlord sued to evict loft tenant, claiming that tenant's lease had expired. Tenant produced a different lease in court, which had a 14-year term and didn't end until January 2011. Landlord claimed that the 14-year lease was a forgery. Landlord didn't have a fully signed copy of the lease that he claimed had expired and claimed that tenant removed it from his office. The court ruled against landlord. The lease that tenant presented appeared valid, and tenant paid the highest rent in the building. Landlord didn't prove that the other lease existed.
