Unaligned Closet Door Is Minor Condition

LVT Number: 11759

Tenant complained of a reduction in services. The DRA ruled for tenant and reduced his rent. Landlord later applied for rent restoration, claiming that services had been restored. The DRA ruled against landlord, and landlord appealed. Tenant's rent was reduced based on findings that a closet door and a light fixture cover in the bathroom weren't maintained. Rent restoration was denied because an inspection showed that the left section of the wall closet's bi-fold door didn't align with the right section.

Landlord claimed that this was a minor condition and didn't warrant continuation of rent reduction. The DHCR ruled for landlord and granted the rent-restoration application.
