Tenant's Son Can't Get Rent-Stabilized Apartment

LVT Number: #29901

Rent-stabilized tenant's son complained to the DHCR that landlord refused to give him a renewal lease after tenant died. The son claimed that he had lived in the apartment with tenant almost all his life. Tenant died in June 2016. The DRA ruled against the son because he didn't submit requested proof of bills, taxes, correspondence, etc. that would show that he had lived in the apartment for the two years prior to tenant's death. The son and appealed and lost. The son claimed that he didn't receive the DHCR's request for additional information.
