Tenant's Injuries Not Caused by Lack of Hot Water

LVT Number: 9198

Tenant sued landlord for negligence after she stumbled and fell while carrying a pot of hot water from her kitchen to her bathroom. She argued that she had to carry the water to the bathroom because landlord didn't provide hot water to her apartment. Landlord asked the court to dismiss the case, claiming that tenant fell for reasons unrelated to the lack of hot water. The court dismissed the case, and tenant appealed. The appeals court also ruled for landlord. Landlord's actions didn't cause tenant's injuries.
