Tenants Claim New Burner Causes Vibration Problems

LVT Number: 14643

Landlord applied for MCI rent hikes based on the installation of a new burner. The DRA ruled for landlord. Several tenants appealed, claiming that there were vibrations from the burner that affected their apartments. They asked the DHCR to revoke the MCI rent hike. The DHCR ruled against tenants. Landlord had fixed any other problems with the new burners. Any vibrations didn't warrant revoking the MCI rent increase. If tenants had a continuing problem, they could file decrease in service complaints.
