Tenant Renovated Kitchen Without Landlord's Permission

Landlord sued to evict tenant because tenant removed the existing kitchen cabinets in the apartment and replaced them with a new set of wall units. Landlord claimed that tenant breached a substantial obligation of his lease by making alterations without landlord's prior written consent. The court ruled for the landlord.

Landlord claimed that tenant breached a substantial obligation of his lease by making alterations without landlord's prior written consent. The court ruled for the landlord. It found that tenant hadn't sought landlord's consent and that the replaced cabinets weren't in such bad condition that they had to be replaced.
