Tenant Ordered to Sign Retroactive Renewal Lease

LVT Number: 17236

Landlord sued to evict rent-stabilized tenant for not signing a renewal lease in 1993. The court ruled for landlord in 1997 and gave tenant 10 days to cure her default by signing a retroactive renewal lease. Tenant appealed and lost. The appeals court didn't get the transcript of the trial before the lower court. So the appeals court couldn't determine if the lower court's order to sign the renewal lease retroactive to when tenant should have signed it was improper.
