Tenant Not Responsible for Full Rent After Subsidy Terminated

LVT Number: #24153

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Landlord claimed that tenant owed the full monthly rent after tenant's Section 8 rent subsidy was terminated. The court ruled against landlord, who appealed and lost. Since there was no new agreement between landlord and tenant, landlord can't seek payment of rent in excess of tenant's Section 8 subsidy, even after the subsidy is terminated.
