Tenant Lived in Another Apartment Under Forged Leases

Landlord sued to evict rent-stabilized SRO hotel unit tenant for nonprimary residence. The trial court ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. The SRO unit was on West 79th Street in Manhattan. Landlord proved that for years tenant had posed as another tenant of a rent-stabilized apartment on East 50th Street. Tenant lived in the other apartment during that time and forged the signature of the actual tenant of that apartment on a series of renewal leases.
