Tenant Hurt During Fire

Tenant sued landlord for damages after she fell from her apartment while trying to escape from a fire. Landlord asked the court to dismiss the case without a trial. The court ruled for landlord, and tenant appealed. The appeals court ruled against tenant. Landlord's building was in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The stairs and public halls of the building had fireproof doors. And the fire was confined to the store on the ground floor.
