Tenant Evicted for Chronic Nonpayment of Rent

Landlord sued to evict tenant for chronic nonpayment of rent. Tenant paid his first month's rent when he moved into the apartment in 1983. But after that, tenant never paid his rent until landlord brought nonpayment proceedings. Landlord had brought at least eight nonpayment proceedings against tenant. The last four had been brought since 1989. In each case, a judgment was entered for landlord. Tenant always claimed that there were prostitutes in the building and that the superintendent harassed him, but he never offered any proof. The court ordered the tenant's eviction.
