Tenant Didn't Purchase Condo Apartment

LVT Number: 10238

Landlord sued to evict tenant when tenant didn't buy an apartment that was converted to a condominium. The court ruled for landlord, and tenant appealed. The appeals court ruled against tenant. Tenant had an interim lease after agreeing to buy his apartment and was no longer subject to rent stabilization. Landlord's use of certain rent stabilization forms or riders and mistaken registration of the apartment as rent-stabilized didn't bar landlord from proceeding to evict tenant at the end of the interim lease. The apartment had become exempt from rent regulation.
