Tenant Consented to Air Conditioner Rent Increase

LVT Number: 14766

Landlord applied for a $5.00 monthly rent increase based on tenant's installation of an air conditioner extending beyond the building line. The DRA ruled for landlord, and tenant appealed. Tenant claimed that the air conditioner was installed when she moved into the apartment in 1978 and no increase had been taken previously. The DHCR ruled against tenant. Tenant had signed landlord's application consenting to the rent increase. So the rent increase was proper.
