Tenant Claims Renewal Lease Is Improper

LVT Number: #23514

Rent-stabilized tenant complained that landlord offered an improper renewal lease. The DRA ruled against tenant, finding that any lease violation issues had been resolved. Tenant appealed. She claimed that landlord incorrectly listed her prior rent on the renewal offer at an amount higher than the new rent shown on her prior lease. Tenant also claimed that the renewal offer wasn't on the same terms and conditions as the prior lease because landlord attached a preferential rent rider to her renewal offer. Tenant claimed that she wasn't charged a preferential rent under her initial lease.
