Tenant Claims Amount of Rent Cut Inadequate

LVT Number: 12419

Rent-controlled tenant complained of a reduction in services based on a leak in his bathroom, which he claimed made the shower inoperable. The DRA ruled for tenant and reduced his rent by $10 per month for the two months the condition existed. Tenant appealed, claiming that the rent reduction was inadequate. The DHCR ruled against tenant. The amount of the rent cut for a decrease in shower stall plumbing was adequate. And since the condition lasted approximately 10 weeks, a two-month rent reduction was fair.
