Tenant Caused Gas Leaks and Started Fire in Apartment

Landlord sued to evict rent-stabilized tenant for engaging in a continued pattern of objectionable conduct. Landlord claimed that tenant’s behavior created a nuisance. The court ruled for landlord after a trial. Tenant appealed and lost. Landlord proved that on at least two occasions tenant allowed the gas in her stove to leak. The Fire Department had to come the second time this happened. Another time, tenant caused a fire in her apartment, once again requiring Fire Department intervention.
