Temporary Disruption in Gas Service

LVT Number: 12940

Tenant complained of a reduction in services because she had been without gas service for 14 days. The DRA reduced tenant's rent for one month, and landlord appealed. Landlord claimed it had temporarily shut off the gas to conduct repairs. The DHCR ruled for landlord and revoked the rent reduction. Landlord needed to make repairs and to have the system tested before reconnecting the gas line. No rent reduction was warranted for this temporary interruption of service.
