Sanctions Imposed Against Landlord

LVT Number: 14868

Landlord sued to evict tenant, claiming that he was a month-to-month tenant. Landlord wasn't represented by an attorney. Tenant claimed that he was rent controlled and asked the court to impose sanctions against landlord for starting the case. There were two prior rulings that tenant was rent controlled, and landlord's new case was completely groundless. The court ruled for tenant and imposed sanctions against landlord in the amount of $2,500.
