Rent Demand Was Not Defective

LVT Number: 14379

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Tenant claimed that landlord's rent demand was defective and asked the court to dismiss the case. Tenant's renewal lease listed the building's managing company as landlord, but the rent demand named the owner as landlord. The court ruled against tenant. Tenant paid rent to the owner for 13 years, and her original lease was with the owner. The owner was always the landlord, and the managing agent clearly signed the renewal lease as the owner's agent. Landlord's rent demand wasn't defective.
